Mentoring Students

When any one comes in a new environment, he or she faces many problems in day to day life; this is where a faculty mentor comes to play a role in the life of a student. Mentoring has long been recognized as a valuable tool by industry and academic world wide. A mentoring program is a formal relationship between a mentor and a protégé, in which the mentor helps the protégé achieve clearly defined goals. Simply put, “mentoring is the process in which people help others set goals and develop the skills to reach them,” said Linda Phillips-Jones, vice president of the Mentoring Group in Grass Valley, CA.

Mentors connect with student by showing compassion – non judgment support that looks beneath the student’s behavior and sees their pain and suffering.

In light of the above, GNIM has started a mentoring program for its students for which has proved to be extremely beneficial for the student.
